What is the Foundation?

The Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation, organized under the laws of the State of Illinois, that provides a long term, self-sustaining financial structure to enhance the educational programs of the Maroa-Forsyth Community Unit Schools.

How do I make a contribution?

There are other ways you can give, such as memorials naming the Foundation in your will or as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy, donating real estate or other property or giving a gift in someone's name.

What Is the mission of the Foundation?

The mission is to enrich the lives of Maroa-Forsyth Students through enhanced educational opportunities.

Developing a strong financial base through endowment funds and gifts will make the critical difference between basic education and excellent education.

What is the relationship between the Foundation and the School District?

The Foundation is a separate, legal entity and not part of the school district. There is ongoing communication and cooperation between them.

What kinds of enrichment programs may be funded?

When you contribute to the Maroa-Forsyth School District Foundation, you will be helping to support a variety of programs. All age levels and curricular areas will be considered. Our primary focus is -

  • To promote enhanced educational opportunities through computer technology, and
  • To develop state-of-the-art laboratories for the enrichment of agricultural, environmental, and scientific education.
Who Makes The Decisions About What Programs Are Funded?

Decisions will be made by the Foundation Board of Directors. Both the School District and Board of Education are represented on the Foundation's Board.

What is the Foundation's financial goal?

The goal is to establish an endowment which will be self-sustaining. Its immediate goal is $150,000.

Who administers the Foundation funds?

The Board of Directors of the Foundation is responsible for the financial management of the Foundation's funds. The Foundation is an IRS 501(c)(3) tax exempt corporation, organized under the laws of the State of Illinois.

Does the Foundation have a financial policy to guide its spending?

Yes. The general long-term policy is to fund projects from investment earnings.

Are contributions tax deductible?

Yes.
